Final Experience and Thank You IS 101

My experience in IS 101 was very positive. I did have a hard time with time management throughout the semester. I did find myself falling behind many times but I would find a way to catch up. What I enjoyed the most was learning as well as understand the material. Even if I had previous knowledge in computers like using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. There were many tools and functions of each programs that I did not know of. Especially Microsoft Excel, it was a a program I had no previous experience in but I was able to learn its functions and understand it. I will definitely be using skills that I learned in IS 101 outside of the classroom either in other College classes or a job settings. I am very thankful for Professor Wu who made IS 101 a much more enjoyable experience he was a very helpful all semester. He not only thought the material but helped me understand everything during the semester.

I very much enjoyed the presentation on the 7 Wonders of the World. I had not made a PowerPoint since middle school. I do enjoy them even though they can be tedious. I am glad I was able to learn my weaknesses in presenting a slideshow. For example, I need to keep in mind my volume when presenting I should not have anyone in the audience having difficulties hearing my presentation. I also would like to work with better interaction with the audience not just breeze right through my presentation. I would like to ask questions through the slideshow and leave more of an impact to the audience. Overall, I did enjoy the presentation assignment but have much to work on.

Editing and Chart Tips for Success While Finishing Off Strong

I have chosen lesson 4.6.7 Document Editing Tips, as I see this as one of the most useful tools Microsoft Word has to offer. In IS 101 I have realized how important it is to have proper formatting in your text even having one too many spacing can look very wrong. With the tips provided in the lesson of LabSim it shows how many tools we can use such as spelling and grammar checkers. Other tools such as Replace or the Thesaurus are also very useful and good to know how to use them. This can definitely make your paper so much better and seem more professional. I have been using to these skills but this lesson helped me better understand the tools at hand and how to use them to their fullest.

Another skill I chose was 5.8.6 Chart Tips. This lesson was one that stood out to me even though I have had previous experience using it even if it was minimal. Understanding the chart options in Excel can be very important because the date can be there but if you can not represent the correct data that is being asked for the chart will be useless. Understanding the charts and how to use them can be very beneficial as seeing data on a chart can be better than just seeing numbers on a sheet. This lesson helped me understand the charts to use for which scenarios and how to properly use them.

I see myself ending IS 101 on a very positive note. So far, I see myself being content with the grade I have earned because I believe the grade has reflected the work I have put into this semester. IS 101 at times frustrated me but I overall enjoyed the assignments and being challenged. This sense of feeling challenged wanted me to continue and as I said I believe the grade I have represents the amount of work I have dedicated to this class. I want to finish off strong as I have pushed myself to be successful, I see myself ending the class with a sense of success!

First 2 weeks expiernces and Learning About Cloud Storage

I have enjoyed IS-101 so far. The assignments have been very informative and I might even add enjoyable. I did find myself behind at some points but thankfully I have been able to get it together and catch up. I have been able to sharpen up some skills and refresh some topics I had forgotten. I have also been able to learn new computer skills and have started applying them in personal use as well as in work. Professor Wu has been very helpful and the opportunities to have one on one meeting through Web-Ex have been very helpful and allowed me to fully understand the material and learn much more. In LabSim 1.2.12 Cloud Computing facts was very informative. It was very helpful and useful to understand how cloud storage works. One of my fears is to lose all of my storage such as pictures, contacts, information in my notes. After having a better understanding of how cloud storage works or how to keep it updated that day I can prevent losing all information was very helpful. After this I applied my new understanding of cloud storage and it gave me peace of mind. As well as I backed up my personal could storage. I am looking forward to the rest of the class and to learn much more!

First Impression

My name is Brian Gonzalez. I am pursuing a degree in business management. I want to be able to work in the sports industry. I am a sports fan and enjoy being in a sports event live setting even more. I have always been interested in how much organization it takes to bring fans with passion to watch their favorite sports events. I started playing sports when I was a kid. I mostly played soccer but I also played basketball and volleyball. IS101 was an elective for my degree, and I was very excited to take it. I am fully aware we live in a digital age where it is very vital to be beyond comfortable with computer systems. I took 2 computer classes one in middle school and the other in High school and I learned quite a few. I have always enjoyed using computers but want to further my computer skills. My first impressions of IS101 were very positive I have noticed the tasks are mostly about following directions. I am glad I chose to take the class in person as I am a visual learner and feel more comfortable asking for help and seeing the solution. I also found it enjoyable that the first assignment was in kind of scavenger hunt just following directions to get to the end goal. I think I will enjoy the class going forward.
